La Champagne

34,000 hectares compose the Champagne appellation; a soil rich in clay and limestone on which one may cultivate grapes destined to become champagnes. The area comprises five main regions: the Côte des Blancs; the Montagne de Reims, the Marne Valley, the Côte des Bar and the Sézannais. Thechampenoisvineyards, the northernmost in France, benefit from two climatic influences that favor the cultivation of the vine: continental to the South and oceanic to the North. Hilly as well as steep, the landscape of the region affords the vines good exposure to the sun.
